Just ordered this based on this review and several other recommendations. I just bought and listened to the Fiio K9 pro ESS and wasn't all that impressed with it vs. my 2 year old Schiit Modi/Magni stack, which I am looking to upgrade from. The Fiio just didn't do enough to justify its price tag so I returned it. I have higher hopes for this unit, can't wait to hear it!

Addendum: I've now owned this device for 2 months now, and I consider it my summit-fi solution when it comes to DAP's! It's unrivalled in terms of it's versatility, when paired with the HiBy CR08. I will have achieved personal head-fi nirvana when I can find a pair of closed back headphones & IEM's, that are worthy of its incredible capabilities! Thank you Sandu.

I agree with you @Soundnews I've just tested them with some other headphones in a shop today (Hifi-Man, Focal, Meze..) and I have liked only those ones. But I don"t have any DAC. It will be my first HIFI gear. I wanted to use them with my PC in fact. But I'm wondering what I need to buy to pair it with

This DAC Amp performs better sonically than my Astell and Kern SP2000 DAP. Mind blown

I got the EF499 last week, paired with the stealth Ananda’s, it’s pretty good, It compliments the somewhat dry sound of planars nicely

This Dap is a monster, it knocks the socks off my Fiio M11 Pro and also my iBasso DX 170. I also have the DX 180 which knocks the socks off the DX 170, just saying!

When you press the next track it looks like it takes a second to follow the command, is it laggy?

How are these for trance, rock/metal, pop, electronica, classical ect... ? I listen to a wide range of genres. I like detailed, wide, punchy and a little warm sound. It must be enganging and musical. Not Fatigue. And of course comfortable. The most comfort iems ive had, is the beyerdynamic xelento. A good iem. But to pricey

Soundblaster g6 never disapointed in games and movies its 90 bucks g6 7.1 suround at mi 30 mX 60 % will destroy this thing at gMing and movies

Gave these a try and I completely agree with your findings. Not too bright, not too warm, engaging enough, musical and fun. Love the looks and feet. Well...OF COURSE I DO, THIS IS MEZE AFTER ALL!

Kinda weird design, but I'll take it if you are a fan of old Scholl Ideas. Their rest products are so much cooler. It's great they are differentiating from FIIO or Shanling tipical architectures.

Upper mids and treble extension better than truthear zero red ?

For anyone tried the both units this is better than mjolnir 3. Especially how it drives high impedance cans compared to schiit unit. I have a beyerdynamic T1 V1 headphone set. Both are not good as for ex Violectric 222 on that but for me S17 is the winner overall of this 3. Great for its price. Dac i use is gustard r26.

oh TIL Onix made a DAP I tried their dongle early this week, really impressed with it. It is as good as the ibasso DC Elite, at a quarter of price

Bro can you compare it to shanling h7.I really like h7 especially its natural sound and huge stage capability.I think you forgot to mention the soundstage of xm5.I am confused between dx180 and xm5,i care about sq only.
